IIRC Wednesdays are the first day as a general rule. They over fly, do a basic look over/recon. then the next two days Thurs/Friday, they practice to get the locale 'down' then show Sat/Sun. I saw the 'blues @ GNV last weekend; good show for them, LOUSY venue.

Practice days will be Thursday and Friday. The real show is Saturday and Sunday. For more info, http://www.fleetweek.us I'll be there for the Friday practice more than likely.

Thanks Ted. Where do they go between Sundays show which was in Tennessee and Wednesdays arrival in San Francisco? Do you know if they will be parking at SFO again? I work Wednesday, so I hope to see them arrive.

Nick, Thanks but did know the schedule, I was just wondering when they would actually fly in before practice, sorry if I wasnt clear.

They headed home right after the Millington, Tn show and I second that they will come in on Wednesday. As a rule though most shows this side of the Rockies the main team, jets 1-6, arrive on Thursday with the advance team, the 2 seaters get there on Wednesday. But, i've noticed that the West Coast swings have them heading west on Wed. Since the next three shows are out there I would expect them to stay on the road until they do Chattanooga Oct 29 and 30. They are great.

I'm not sure what time they would get out there but when they arrived at our show a couple years ago it was around 1230-1330 local. But it was on a Thursday since they didn't have far to travel.

They put on a good show yesterday--I went down to Marina Green to watch.

Thursdays are always my favorite day with them because they start at noon doing their survey flights (which are not part of their choreographed demonstration) and they buzz various city landmarks and such getting a scope of the area. After those are done they go back to SFO to refuel and then head back out to practice their standard routine until around 4 PM.

As I'm writing this (Friday, 2:30 PM), there's a solo F-16 out practicing its routine over the Bay for the Fleet Week airshow. It's probably more than two miles away but when I went outside to take a look I could feel the vibration of the afterburner when it went into a steep climb.

BTW, the Blue Angels start their next practice run in about 20 mins. Gotta go!

Cheers,
Jeff

Monday a.m. - anybody see the Angels perform? I watched them on Sunday and as always it's a fantastic experience. Sat right by the Golden Gate Bridge - amazing when those bad boys go screaming by.

Ha me too! I got some nice shots of them overflying the Golden gate and I tried to get a shot of the guy almost breaking the sound barrier over the water, but I don't know if it came out ok. It was really fun and since I haven't seen them in like 10 years, it was really a great experience.

They are based here at NPA, NOT PNS, even though the manager at PNS would probably love it, and practice each week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, clogging up the airspace. Not a bad show to watch while we're waiting to takeoff, but it gets old after seeing it a hundred times every year.

Although, the high speed pass never gets old!  Big grin

I saw them due this last Thursday at Miramar. Definitely neat to see! However my roommates were not happy. They were trying to study. haha
