It is pretty ear shattering, and has a pretty impressive rotation angle. I was little, but I remember it.
Things were better when it was two guys in a dorm room.

It was 27 years ago, but I still remember that it was incredibly loud.

The SR-71A is just about the meanest machine I have ever herd take off more like a Rocket Launch at night!

Here is a clip from a site I visit when I need a Blackbird fix.

My 2 years stationed at RAF Mildenhall from 84 to 86 I never got bored watching it take off, its rate of climb was rocket like and its engines howled even louder than the all the Q model tankers hitting water on takeoff to support her. Plus the tell tale sign of SR-71 engine start when you heard the unmuffled roar of its 454 big block chevy start carts roaring to life at about 0700 in the morning.
I would help you but it is not in the contract

Closely followed by the Twinn Thunder Clap of the Engines coming to life and If you got lucky as I did peering in through the fence with my mates the Green Flash of the TEB Ignition!

Saw SR-71's on display at RAF Mildenhall airshows in the 1980's, unforgettable, more so when they did their 'reheat farting' trick as part of the display.

I was stationed at Beale AFB in the Air Force and worked on the SR-71's and watched lots of takeoffs. The best spot was from the launch truck that followed the plane to the runway on each takeoff. When the throttles were advanced and afterburners kicked in the truck would rock. Since I was in the sheet metal shop I only got to do it a few times but it was a thrill each time. But it didn't matter where you were on base when the SR took off you knew it, because it is loud.

I also grew up in Palmdale, California and got to see the first flight of the SR-71 .
