VC-25A Avionics Upgrade?

Fri Jan 20, 2006 2:42 am

Does the USAF plan on upgrading the avionics anytime soon to the VC-25A aircraft? As of now they still hold standard analog instruments...

I believe Boeing modified the aircraft with a partial EFIS/Digital system upon initial delivery. I remember seeing a picture of the cockpit but I can't remember the specifics.

Well, I know that it has analog instruments, but that the attitude indicator is digital... I think that's it. I saw the flight deck on the National Geographic Video AIR FORCE ONE

I believe the VC-25As were both delivered with the Mil. Spec. 1553 data bus already installed. That allows for future digital avonics (and outher new electronic equipment) to be easier to install.

I bet these puppies receive regular upgrades...and such upgrades will not be publicized.
