When Will The PC-12s Be Delivered To U.S.A.F.?

Fri Jan 27, 2006 1:55 am

Does anyone know when the USAF will take delivery of the PC-12s? Also, where will they be based and why are they purchasing used platforms?

Probably when they get their budget and personnel problems in order.  stirthepot

Honestly, I haven't heard anything about this so I'd like to hear more myself.

What I read was that the USAF purchased used PC-12s. The PC-12s are to be used in support of Special Operations units. The article went on to say that they were only ordering used platforms for this mission also.

A little off topic, but why does the USAF have a L-39(Czech trainer) and Casa CN-235?

The L-39 is probably a civil machine on loan to the USAF from the National Test Pilots School (NTPS). That organization uses all sorts of machines to privately explore the envelope of aviation. Examples include; Saab J-35, MB-326, Mig-15UTI, PC-7.

The CASA CN-235 is in use by the CIA/Special Forces. The USAF operated similar "interdiction" aircraft in Panama (C-212). These airframes fill a small niche in transport that a C-130 or MH-53 cannot answer.

The USAF has many different types of aircraft for different purposes.
