Russian Demo Flight

Mon Mar 06, 2006 6:07 pm

If this has already made the rounds, apologies. I did a forum search and did not find it . If you have not seen this...check it out.

I have never seen a Jet do things like this.

Hehe it's funny how uninformed those people are posting the comments below the vid. First it was a Su-37, then a Su-27 then a Su-35 then a Su-33(navy version? lol), then a Su-37UB(doesnt even exist). In reality it's actually a Su-30MK and yes it does have thrust vectoring and canards which allow it to do that crazy stuff. I think the most amazing is the double Kulbit aka double backflip which it did during the middle somewhere.

That maneuvering is ridiculous, I think it could flop its way out of a phone booth if it had to.

Well apart from the fact that I also thought it was the Su-37, it does defy aerodynamics. If it's the -37 then no worries yet, but if it's the Su-30MK or MKI then it's the bird that countries like India, China and if I'm correct also Malaysia are flying. It's not the kind of bird I'd want to dogfight with, even with an F-15 or Raptor.
And for those who want to bring in technology...the gap is not as big as it used to be.
I would love to get half an hour of airtime in one of these and work it's magic.
who decided that a Horizon should be HORIZONtal???

That is impressive, however I would rank this #2 after the MiG-29OVT (MiG-35) display at MAKS 2005! That was truly impressive! The MiG-29 is much lighter than the Su-27/30/35/37 so its maneuvers were something! I have never before in my life seen an aircraft do 3 somersaults in a row and recover so easily and gracefully! (I do not know the name for the maneuver in english)

The Su-37 prototype "711" crashed a while back so AFAIK there arent any -37s flying right now. Also notice it's a two-seater therefore it has to be a Su-30. The Mig-29OVT was pretty amazing too.
