VF-31 And VFA-87 Question

Fri Mar 31, 2006 5:12 pm

I wonder if anyone in Airliners community can answer to the following question regarding the marking of VF-31 and VFA-87, both participated in recent CVW-8 deployment.
The question is :

1. VFA-87's CAG plane, FA-18C 164687, wears the letter "War Party" on right vertical fin and "Factory" on left vertical fin. I assume that "War Party" is the call sign of VFA-87, but what for "Factory" ?

2. F-14s of VF-31 have small phoenix insignia with the letter of "CNAL" on it. What is the meaning of this insignia ?

I would appreciate any response on this.
Toksans from Tokyo. Photographing and flying the plane are things to do for my life.

CNAL=Commander Naval Airforce Atlantic (AIRLANT)

Yes, "Party" is their call sign, but I don't know what "Factory" is.
