F-16 Intake Question

Mon Apr 17, 2006 6:45 pm

Can someone tell me the purpose of the thin vertical piece inside the engine intake? Also, do all F-16s have it, or only some? I thought I had seen some without, but I could be wrong.

Thanks!

It adds rigidity to the intake. I don't know if it was added later with the F-16C/D or was an original part from the beginning. Maybe it appeared when the intake was increased to accommodate the F110 engine.
