Fly By Wire: C-17 Question

Sat Jul 22, 2006 6:31 am

The fly by wire on the C-17-- does it automatically adjust pitch trim, or do anything to automatically keep the plane level during banks?
Or does the pilot have to do it the old fasioned way :p

Blackbird,

On early C-17s the pitch trim actuators could be operated either by a switch or by a cable that ran from the cockpits all the way to the tail. Later birds got rid of the cable. Trim is automatic but over ride-able for emergency operation.

Have fun,
