Call Signs Designations For Fighter Jets?

Sat Dec 09, 2006 2:27 am

Is there a list of all the United States fighter jets call IDs online??

For example, I know one which is used here locally were I live and its used by these F-18s and there call IDs are RAIDER 62 and 61..

And I know of one other one thats called GHOST...

Can anyone find a link on a list of these please?

Thanks

Nice try, Osama.

What's your next question, "What is Air Force One's biggest vulnerability"?

Most Callsigns are not some giant classified item-Why are people getting upset at the question?

Most of us wear our squadron callsign as a fun patch on the flight suit. Some folks use their own tactical callsign when flying. Some have it written above the door of the squadron. Go to any trophy shop near a base and you get a list of every callsign and it would probably be most up to date LOL

Not upset, man. Amused. Having some fun with it. It's OK. You can have fun on Fridays again since the Republicans lost that "political capital"/"mandate from the people" last month.

Thanx for your service, BTW, Lt-AWACS...

Here at NATO we have fun everyday not quite as stuffy as in the States Big grin
Less PCBig grin

BTW my response was not personally directed at you. Many times on this board people get spun up over things like callsigns but then expect radar frequencies and radio hopsets to be published on the web LOL. BTW Thanks.

I actually know people that have flown with the callsign "Osama 11/12" LOL
Your standard adversary callsign are normally Ivan and Mig. Air Forces Monthly had a good article from Nellis a few months ago for those that are interested.

Oh how I miss those days. But, by being in ATC here in the states, I still get to deal with US Military aircraft. Where I work (KGJT airport) we get a lot of USN F-18s, F-5s, EA-6Bs, USAF T-6s and some C-130 and KC-135s. I love to call down to the FBO and tell them that they have some 'BOGEYs' inbound. This is the call-sign for the F-5s that come in from VFC-13 'Fighting Saint' out of Fallon NAS. They perform the aggressors duties for the TOPGUN school.

I've heard that A and R are the designators for Air Force and Army flights, respectively (A23477 would be "Air Force 23477" and R32513 would be "Army 32513"). What are the designators for Navy and Marine Corps? I think I remember VV being one of them.

VV is used for the US Navy and VM is used for USMC aircraft.

The RAF along with other countries will most likely use 'tactical call-signs' just like the US and Canada. During my military experience, fighter units from various countries will use call-signs that reflect some aspect of their respective squadron/unit.
