Helicopter Crashes

Thu Jan 04, 2007 3:18 am

Does anybody have any information regarding the reported crash (1:03 EST, 06 Jan 03) of a California National Guard helicopter that was participating in the border patrol mission. Also does anybody have any information on the Unit and component of the helicopter that crashed in Washington last month? Any help would be appreciated.

For the crash here in San Diego:

9 on board~ 5 injured, 3 serious condition

This was as of last night's (Jan 2) 5pm news. News clips showed rescue in progress. Huey crashed very near a road, crews were there in less then an hour. Info was that the bird was landing at an LZ, and 'something happened'- shots showed the a/c in about 3 pieces, but close together... several 100 feet past the LZ- down the side of a hill. A Border Patrol Huey was flying the injured to hosptials in the area- using the 'missed' LZ!!!

Tonight's 530 TV news UPDATE~

The pilots are being praised for 'skilled flying' that limited the injuries to those onboard...
Injuries are mostly back/neck related...
Downed wires are coming into question...
The H1 involved was built in 1973... you just KNEW that would come up!!!
