INS Vikramaditya - How Similar To Kuznetsov?

Wed Jan 10, 2007 1:22 am

The Kuznetsov class hulls are reportedly a derivative of the Kiev class. If so, now that Admiral Gorshkov is nearing completion of its conversion to Vikramaditya, how dissimilar are they? Look at these images from GlobalSecurity:

I think, personally, I'd be scared as hell to drive a Fulcrum-D that close to Vikramaditya's island.

For more info, see the Admiral Kuznetsov class and Vikramaditya articles.

Indian Navy will be operating 16 MiG 29s from INS Vikramaditya. Do you think Admiral Gorshkov is not equipped for this?

As Gorshkov, no. As Vikramaditya, it looks more reasonable, but you still are within a fraction of a wingspan of clipping the island.
