Why All The C-130's In PHX

Tue Feb 20, 2007 7:52 am

I was at the airport this weekend and saw C-130's parked all over. They are from different states, what are they doing here?

Here is a link that shows there arrivals.

I flew in last Monday night (2/12) and there was a USAF C-130J on the ramp at cutter. The guys were nice enough to take us out to look around before we hoped in our embarrassing little Cessna and headed back to PRC. I also flew in last night from SNA-PHX and there was another one sitting in the exact same spot (not a -J model)

F4wso, are you with the 934th? I rode 87-9283 back when it was with the 440th at MKE (sorry, the only time I got to fly on a military aircraft - it was pretty exciting for a 16 year old). I wasn't sure which aircraft got transferred to the 934th - I'm guessing all of the 87-XXXX's that the 440th got from Peoria.

We did have a good weekend and enjoyed the warmer weather. Our medical folks participated in an exercise at Luke, then we repositioned the airplane to PHX. We stayed close to the airport so I was able to enjoy some aviation photography from the parking garage.

Here's a couple of pictures from the visit...
