Il-38 Question.

Can anyone tell me why the engine housing is bigger on engines 2&3 than 1&4? Just curious to see if there is some practical reason behind it.

I'll second that.

It isn't just the IL-38 that follows this pattern most big 4 engine props do, it is pretty easy to hide the gear in a reconfigured cowling.

Come on now, the P-3 still has a cople of years before being replaced with 737s. Don't be in such a rush.  Smile

Huh......I dunno, that was supposed to be a photo of a JSDF Kawasaki built P-3, but apparently I got the wrong photo up here.
