Gordon Brown In Iraq On BAe 146.

Tue Jun 12, 2007 6:50 am

I was just watching the new and saw Gordon Brown (The UK's new Prime Minister in waiting  Wink), and shows him getting off one of the RAF's BAe 146's at Baghdad airport.

Did he seriously fly all the way from London on one of the Queen's little commuter jets?!

Are these aircraft adapted for longer range flights, with extended range?... Just seems a long way to fly on one of them!

No, jet was probably in theatre already and he would have connected at somewhere like Akrotiri, Cyprus, Bahrain or Qatar. They use the 146 occasionally around the Gulf on missions other than VIP

But instead of used planes, why not go for one of these?.....  Wink

BAe-146, and BAe-125 aircraft of 32 Sqn do have aircraft detached to both Iraq and Afghanistan.
They of course also have a comprehensive self protection equipment fitment, in fact they've had versions of this gear for 20 years.

And still 32 Sqn gets called 'The Royal Flight', they do much more than that.

Hopefully this will be quicker than the FSTA saga or it might not even be Brown Force 1  Smile

he's either selfish or hopes Gordy will get blown up and someone a bit less bad for the country take the throne from Tony.
I wish I were flying
