Here are a few pictures I took today on CAF (Commemorative Air Force) at their annual show (Airsho) at Midland-Odessa Airport. Pictures were downsized from the originals, in order to keep file size small.
First some a/c from static display resp. before flying started:
Me-109 (actually a Buchon HA-1112 #67)
Quite a rare sight: A double-seater Supermarine Spitfire MkIX:
Even rarer sight: A real Mitsubishi Zero:
Absolutely rare: P82 Twin Mustang
Engine in shiny conditions:
A B-25 and its noseart:
Heavies during their taxi to the runway (B-17, B-24, C-46) ...
... and holding:
Heavies in flight:
Reenactment of the attack of the oilfields at Ploestil, Romania:
Hopefully someone was more fortunate enough to shoot the wall of fire, whose heat could be clearly felt even several hundred yards away and even before the sound arrived.
Some minor explosions and the results:
Well, the show was not limited to Prop-aircraft:
Some visitors even brought along hearing protection for this display and the F/A-18's display earlier, whose highlight was going slightly supersonic resulting in the sonic boom and a nice shockwave over the wing in Texas' dry conditions (too fast for me to shoot a pic of).
I hope you enjoyed looking at my pictures ...
I'm still undecided whether I should attend Sunday again or not – we'll see ...
Btw, car traffic was unbelieveable easy even after the show. The road network around MAF really is capeable !
