111TH FS 90 Anniversary.

Fri Nov 23, 2007 10:49 pm

A sincere congrats to the squadron on 90 years!!!!

However with the paint scheme, as my dad would say, they tried to put 10lbs in a 5lb bag.

According to af.mil all the colors and markings reflect 90 years of the squadrons history.

I like the concept... but the execution is poor. They should have carried the blue forward to the radome and the yellow on the wings inboard to the wing root where the white/red stripping ends. I think the wing meatballs should have been moved a little more inboard and forward too.

I'm just glad to see they bothered to celebrate at all. Now I wonder if the plastic model airplane companies will actually sell of kit of this airplane or if the after market decal companies will produce a sheet of markings to replicate the bird. No doubt it'll stand out in the modeler's F-16 collection. You couldn't miss that one!  Smile

What the hell were they thinking?  eyepopping  It looks like a paint job by committee!  gasp  Come to think of it, I put a similar paint job on a 1/48 F-16A model...when I was 10! Another fine example of your tax  dollarsign  dollarsign  at work.

They didn't invent the paint scheme..
