Sun Dec 02, 2007 3:54 pm

Very nice order for this program.

Quote:
t is France's first order for the TTH version, which will replace army Aérospatiale Pumas. The French navy already has 27 NFH naval variants of the 10t-class NH90 on order.

NH90s for the French armed forces will be assembled in Marignane by Eurocopter, which holds a 62.5% stake in the NH Industries consortium. The other partners are AgustaWestland of Italy and Stork Fokker of the Netherlands.

The French order takes total firm sales of the NH90 to 507 aircraft. The first production NH90s were delivered to the German army in December 2006, more than two years behind schedule. Germany has firm orders for 112 TTHs.

Great news for the NH-90 program, NH Industries, and the French Military Forces (Army and Navy).

That information is incorrect. The current order book including the French order is 589+32 options.

589+32 options.

Only 32 options in total? Are you sure about that number?
Exceptions confirm the rule.

Yes, because Germany and France exercised options with their last order. That alone were 118 frames (50+68).

thumbsup  Fantastic news, for the NH-90 program, the most modern helicopter in the World. Without a doubt they will serve well.

As soon as they manage to get the problems solved. In my flat, an NH90 engineer lived until last month, and he told me about the massive problems they have... No wonder when I look at him  Wink But he told me they are fixing the major issues...

Yep. Production rates are sluggish. It appears to me that every Tom, Dick and Harry gets his NH-90 right from the beginning. I have the impression that there 25 helicopters flying as of now, but with at least 15 different flags on them. I have recently seen an Oman-ish NH-90 being loaded onto a An-124 for delivery. And we have 3 or so helicopters, from which only 1-2 are available for training. Maybe NHIndustries should prioritize deliveries a bit. Attemting to suit everybody is the first step in failing.

My  twocents , for what it's worth ...

The problem is the lack of standardisation. Unbelievable given the fact that they developed a new helicopter for the sake of standardisation, but every state orders their own version, and the differences are huge.

The delivery to the Luftwaffe last year was for political reasons only, they are far from ready for use.

You did take part in the thread that discussed that Germany Navy is reassessing the Sikorsky S-92, didn't you?
