He is partly right. The C-5's and or C-17's and any other support vehicles arrive ahead of the President. Usually a day in advance...especially if they've brought helicopters. However...the support vehicles never leave before the President from his location.

While you don't need specific details...usually whether or not he needs helicopters and/or ground vehicles is planned out well in advance. But you certainly can't expect them to pack up the helo's and support vehicles and go wheels up from the President's location before AF1 leaves....usually its straight from his transport onto AF1 which in turn immediately departs.
