Thu Jan 03, 2008 9:38 pm

Its an RAF one, filmed from the back of a C-130 for a recruitment advert.

HERE is the 'Behind the Scenes'.

I would agree. The white writing on the side, under the cockpit resembles how the RAF writes the pilot's name on the a/c.

Most certainly an RAF example. No one else can perform such precise move and film it for the cameras. Just fantastic !

Eh, I doubt the RAF are the only ones that can fly like that. Air to Air Refueling seems to be near that close routinely. Cool anyhow!

What superhuman powers have RAF pilots got that those from other countries cannot hope to possess???

They can most certainly hope. But that does not mean they can actually do it. There are good pilots and professional people everywhere , but the ultimate test is the ability to actually pull it of and succeed in doing something that no other erson has managed before. And, then, do it even better than the other guy, so let actions speak !

Are you serious? What a ludicrous statement. Don't let this read a RAF pilot. He will laugh at you.

Take a look at this (e.g. French Air Force): http://video.google.de/videoplay?doc...&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=3

Btw. The RAF Eurofighter looks nearer than it really was, because these pics are crops and were made with a tele lens. I assume it's still 10 or more meters away.

EDIT: ... some of these pics are cropped and they were made with a telephoto lens, which are best known for making distant objects appear magnified and nearer as they really are.

Perhaps one should ask Britain's former subjects about British civilization.

Considering the Windsors are of German descent, this is not all that surprising.

Don't go all historic on us Michlis, otherwise I might have to repeat what Churchill said to FDR's comments about the Raj, 'how are the American Indians doing?', or a diplomat to his US counterpart who was chiding him on British Imperial expansion in the 19th Century, 'that would be about the time of the Mexican wars wouldn't it?'
Plenty more where that came from, no one is innocent.

Back on topic, away from all the nationalist stuff from anyone, thanks for the great video, interesting stuff, all that work for a short film.

Of course, on the news yesterday, the Joseph Roundtree Foundation attacking the MoD for making recruitment films like this, they might brainwash young minds into thinking fighting is no part of service life.
Of course, those poor (working class) dears could not possibly think for themselves could they?
WE know better.
No thanks to the media for not reporting that this foundation is a pacifist group.

Well, if one is going to tout their centuries of civilization, one must be ready to acknowledge one's failings too.  Smile

That's right, those damned Mongols, Romans, Aztecs, that group of cavemen across the valley stealing our food and hitting on our women-or whatever grunts approximated those sentiments!!

Come On guys, we have all gone way beyond the subject matter.
This is about that magnificent fighting machine called the RAF, which against all odds, and despite all the cuts and reductionsin resources, squadrons, funds and numbers, is still ( probably) the best and most professional airforce in the world.

lol Ok then. Think whatever you want, there is nothing amazing about the RAF, nor the USAF. The RAF of WWII was the only real impressive RAF squad I've seen.
