F-15D Agressor Squadron Questions.

Sat Jan 12, 2008 3:30 am

Within the last 2 years, the USAF has begun operating a F-15 Agressor squadron at Nellis AFB. Some of the aircraft assigned are F-15Ds. What purpose does the D model serve in these squadrons? There is no need of a WSO in these aircraft but I see men in the back "pit" all of the time.

Could be a number of things. They could be used for taking instructors under training up for hops. They could be used for demos flights. They could be WSOs logging hours (although in an aggressor squadron I doubt it). They could be flight docs logging hours. They could be other pilots who are logging hours.
Learning to fly, but I ain't got wings.
