And that is what happens when you spend too much time at Shady J!!

IIRC the guy in the first video in your post got in a little trouble for that once it hit the internet.

While the videos are funny to watch, that kind of hacking around on the ramp to me is a little disconcerting. I know, flame away it is just what I am thinking. If the mods want to change my username to stick-in-mud I am OK with that  Smile

Yup- things are just a little bit more scary up on the 'roof'- aren't they? These videos prove once again that Aircraft Carriers are a dangerous place to work when you have dangerous pilots in the cockpit. In both cases the pilots made the wrong moves at the wrong times. Pay attention where attention is due for cryin' out loud!!! Follow the procedures you were taught~ it'll make those 4 1/2 acres a much safer place for everyone who gets to work there.

Not to say that mistakes aren't made by others up there- I've seen enough of both to know that I'm happy to be done with it!!!

Be careful out there guys and gals~ you never know what is going to happen next!!!

So far I've been diggin' these and most of the other vids of this type I've found on the net.
One thing I have noticed though is that there is a time and a place for it.
There is also a need that certain 'folks' not be around...
Classic planes, Classic trains, and Studebakers~~ what else is there???

After enough time around running jets, you get used to the danger area's and start-up sequence. I can see how he wanted to break the continuous monotony of marshalling jets everyday into something more entertaining....and I'm sure the pilots enjoyed it to!

The funniest thing I saw on a ramp was last halloween. Some guy parked a jet in a star-wars storm-trooper outfit. lol.

I'm onboard with your opinion on the matter, being around operating aircraft is a dangerous thing. But I also agree with some other posters that it is nice to break up the monotony of day to day operations. Anyone will tell you that repetitiveness can lead to complacency. Also, there always seems to be others out there with him while he is doing his thing, always a good thing to have another set of eyes to back ya up.
