Wouldn't this mean they could be charged with treason for a national security reason for selling information to the "enemy" (in a way)?

Yes, this is an excellent idea. Nothing will demonstrate global superpower like building a space shuttle circa 2015. It's worked out real well for us.

I think it's a bit more serious than that:

Quote:
Dongfan "Greg" Chung, 72, was employed by Rockwell International from 1973 until its defence and space unit was acquired by Boeing in 1996.

Chung is alleged to have supplied trade secrets relating to the Space Shuttle, the C-17 military transport aircraft, and the Delta IV rocket.

Inspiration, move me brightly! Light the song with sense and color.
Hold away despair, more than this I will not ask.
Faced with mysteries dark and vast, statements just seem vain at last.
Some rise, some fall, some climb, to get to Terrapin!

Selling China space technology can only forward their ICBM technology so even if it is 30 year old tech, it could help them with their missile program. If we'd just stop selling them missile tech for "peaceful purposes" and the Aussies would stop selling them Uranium well, we'd have a lot less to worry about.  Smile
