Having the IAF partisipate in a Red Flag will be great training for all countries involved in this one in August. Red Flag is about as close to actual air combat as you can get without actually going to war.

It's interesting too that France will be there with their Rafales. First time for them to participate with the Rafale at Red Flag? Are we talking Rafale B or Rafale C?

Unfortunately not according to http://www.dreamlandresort.com/info/flag_units.html
Are there other sources?

It will however be interesting to see the F-15, SU-30 and the Rafale together. A great way for the Rafale to show the IAF what they are made of.

Are there any official "results" released after the exercise? Or shall we continue guessing/debating who is better?

Looks like we will keep our new and shiny toys at home. We wouldn't want any real info on how they go about doing their job getting out there! Glad to see the boys from Eglin are bringing their F-15Cs up from FL.

The Eagles from the Florida Air Guard in Jacksonville FL will also be sending a few as well. Yours truly is working very hard to ensure he's on the trip. Per diem and a chance to party? Of course.

I feel the IAF choice of next Fighter procurement will be based on the Exercises out here.

How bad do we typically get our butts kicked by the Israelis?

A total shut-out (they lose no aircraft)? Or is it just a really bad beating (with them scoring a kill ratio of 12 to 1, we lose 12 and they lose one or some horrific figure like that)?

Is there any official source of information when it comes to what countries participate (and with what)?

Sweden will participate with 7 Gripens and it will be interesting to see how they will match the competition. If I'm not mistaken it went rather well last (and first) time 2006.

I'm actually surprised to see that Israel participates in Red Flag. I would think they get plenty of live-fire practice against MiGs back home  duck

The IAF MKIs had their advanced radars removed prior to their departure from Lohegaon airbase. The IAF preferred not to make the entire capabilities of the aircraft known during the exercises.

I think there's been a little misunderstanding on the IAF acronym, here standing for the Indian Air Force, not Israel, they're not gonna be at the Red Flag exercise  Smile

I understand the difference, my comment was in response to Andrea's question. And while the IDF/AF is not participating this one, in this link

Quoting TGIF (Reply 5):
http://www.dreamlandresort.com/info/flag_units.html

it lists Israel under "Visiting Foreign Air Forces" for Red Flag 06-1 and 06-2, but does not include any information on units/types involved.

I know that's not the point. The point is to exercise in an environment as close as the real thing as possible, not to determine which is a better fighter.

Kill/loss ratios are however often used in discussions in this forum, e.g. F-22's 144:0, and they must origin from some source, official or non-official. I've done the research, found nothing and that's why I'm in this forum asking this question.
