New French Air Force One

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but apparently the French president did not feel comfortable with his A319 next to Obama's 747 so he decided to take action

That aside, it also appears that he needs the extra capacity and capabilities that the used, 10-year old jet could provide over and above the limited facilities that the -319 could provide.

A "ten-year-old" A330-200 from Air Caraibes? Looks like #253 to me. So he'll be flying on PW engines rather than the GE beloved of the French establishment? Oops.  Wink

Doesn't the French Air Force have a couple of A340-200s? Surely Sarkozy could use one of them to pump up his ego?

Are they going to have a patio for the on-board restaurant on the wing? Perhaps a vineyard on the other wing for the full cultural impression when flying into foreign lands?

These are for military transport (pax configuration).

The A330 is a great airplane and no one will argue that, but for appearance sake, wouldn't the A340 be the better choice for a national leader?

For the head of the "grande nation", maybe the A380 would be appropriate  Wink But I guess that would indeed be political suicide.
