Usaf @ Hickham?

Wed May 13, 2009 6:04 am

Was reading on the Sydney Airport Forum about a C-17 or KC-10 that does weekly HNL-Richmond-Alice Springs-Richmond-Brisbane-HNL over the course of 3 days, using a callsign of 'Reach' by the looks of it. So that got me thinking is there much of this type of 'scheduled' service out of Hickham on a weekly basis. If so where and what days do they operate, knowing there are a few US bases around the Pacific, and do all the Hickham based C-17's and KC-10's use 'Reach' as their callsign ?

Never been much into Military ops but this I would like to know more about if possible. Thanks

Quoting QF108 (Thread starter):

I don't know about the scheduling, but "Reach" is the callsign for Air Mobility Command. Any military cargo plane can use this callsign, but I think they use others too like other USAF flights. Also, civilian aircraft flying under contract for DoD may use the "Reach" callsign as well.

This is the Civil forum Im sure in Military ops they will know more but there is a regular run,

In support of US activities "down under" www.takeahop.com has more info,

but all AMC (reach) schedules are subject to change at anytime for any reason, but now with the web retirees are able sign up and ride space a to many places around the world, so its just another example how the internet is changing lives for the better...

Thanks for the responses BMI727, and Cospn, I checked out that site for the info, it appears still in its infancy but will check back there often. And apologies about posting this in the Civil Aviation forum originally.

Looks like no luck with the 'schedules' question, but am still holding out some hope that someone may come up with an answer !!! Keeping my fingers crossed

While I have no details on this specific flight, I can certainly confirm that AMC does operate what is basically near scheduled service like supply chain flights to facilities around the globe.

From Hickam, regular flights connect to Travis AFB and Guam(with beyond service to Asia). Additionally ongoing training exercises, and rotations of units dictate need for additional flying.

And, for the record, there are NO KC-10's based out of Hickam.
