Can't say I blame them for not canceling a ten day fishing trip with the price of gas nowadays, but I hope they at least kept the missile pointed outward on their boat, you know, in case in it's "unstable" state it suddenly decided to light off like one of those Chinese made Roman Candles you used to shoot at your friends with!

And if the thing went off during his fishing trip he (provided he survived) or his family would be looking for a lawyer to try and sue the USAF. Only in America.  sarcastic

Tell me he at least took the precaution of putting it in a dinghy or something and towing it...but somehow I expect this was not the case.

From the photo it looks to be a Sidewinder.

If it had gone off, he certainly would have been a contender for a Darwin Award.  bigthumbsup

Latest news is that

The air force later said that it was a telemetry missile that carried no explosives, but turned down Mr Solomon's request to keep his unusual catch as a souvenir.

but I suppose they would say that, wouldn't they?

I saw a video clip on CNN that I was able to see the whole missle. It was an AIM-9X
