Well I pretty much flushed everything I learned about the Creek, the moment I had my last checkride in it to make room for Black Hawk knowledge. But your not that far off from the truth with the weight issue. I'd have to check my Op Supp, but I believe max gross was 3350. We mostly fly with only student and intructor, but from Cairns (OZR
) to the stagefields and back we fly 2 students and IP. And most of the LSI
(lear siegler) guys are old and retired, and well not that concerned with their physical shape. And when we are in the configuration, power management is a constant issue. On hot days I remember tourque being barely outside the yellow, and there may have been a few times as a crappy pilot I was pretty high up there. But in this instance there was only an IP and a single pilot. The rumor mill at Fort Rucker is one of the greatest on this earth with its quanity production, so I don't want to put out much speculation, but from what LSI
has briefed, the incident may have occurred after the IP called for coverage to attempt a Simulated Engine Failure at altitude, and never came on the net to report good power. A few pictures have been posted on a local news site ( www.rickystokes.com
) that show the severity of the impact and crash. Unfortunatly I have no further news concerning the surviving crewmember.
