Thu Feb 25, 2010 1:51 pm

Regards to all from afar
But If any Crew or those who worked with the Victor can help. There is a I hope the definitive build started of the Victor.
Any comments or details of surface markings would be most welcome.
Who was Lusty Lindy?, Teasin Tina and all the other names. or maybe we never need to know.
Also I would love to collect more trivia concerning these fantastic or fated crafts, any comments, histories, experiences would be most welcome.
The Best Wishes from a Red Roo.

You might find some interested parties here;

In the 1991 Gulf War, for the first time since WW2, British military aircraft started having various forms of 'art' added by ground crew.
The Victor force had their own take on this, those stylized ladies like 'Linda'.
Others, like the fast jets, used characters from a rude satirical comic Viz , like 'The Fat Slags', 'Johnny Fartpants' and even 'Buster Gonad (And his unfeasibly large testicles)'.

The Names Lusty Lindy, Teasin Tina, Sweet Sue etc were based on the wifes and or girl friends of the 55 Squadron Crew Chiefs responsible for that particular aircraft. Copies of all the pictures and data on this aircraft can be found in the two volumed book The Handley Page Victor Vol 1 & 2 by Roger R Brooks published by Pen and Sword in the UK
