Southwest 738 At March AFB

Mon Mar 22, 2010 3:30 pm

I was at the March AFB air museum yesterday and the AFB was a fence away. I got some awesome shots of takeoffs of a C-130, 737-200 (don't know why that was there), and a C-17.

My question is I saw a Southwest 738 taxing on the ramp. From what i know there are no civilian operations there. Any ideas why? Also as I mentioned before there was a 737-200 from sierra pacific there and made a couple of landings and takeoffs before it finally left. Any ideas?

It was probably a -700 series SWA 737, they don't fly -800s. SWA does a lot of military charter work.

Southwest operates the 737-300 -500 and -700 variants. The aircraft you saw was probably a military charter moving troops around. Here are a couple of similar photos from March AFB.

According to this

yesterday, 2x SW B737-700 went from/to Dallas Love Field and 2x Sierra Pacific B732 came from Wichita & went to Tucson.
