Lynx Helicopter In Boca Raton

Tue Jun 08, 2010 2:01 pm

I just saw a Lynx military helicopter (gray in color and wheeled version.. possibly Navy) landing at the Boca Raton, FL airport. @ approx. 9:50 AM...

This is very rare around here  Wow!

Does anyone know if there are any visiting warships nearby??

Sounds like a RN Navy Lynx, so a RN Frigate or Destroyer should not be too far away.

A quick Google of 'Royal Navy 2010 exercises' produced this (I had an idea an Atlantic deployment was on);

The Lynx probably came from Type 42 Destroyer HMS Liverpool , Type 23 Frigate HMS Sutherland is possible too though they can can an EH-101 Merlin, unlike the Destroyer.

Dont forget that AUTEC is really close and the main office is here at PBI. I see Seahawks all the time flying into PBI to go through customs, and to the AUTEC building. They might be staging out of Boca instead of PBI.

HMS Sutherland had a Merlin on board when she was tied up at Fells Point Baltimore a couple of weeks ago. Did not get close enough to get reg/serial no I'm afraid.

The German Navy uses them as well. Maybe there is a German frigate in the vicinity.
