"Countdown" by Rush was written after the band was invited to witness the launch of STS-1 and the Space Shuttle Columbia. The video (on youtube) has plenty of footage of the launch as well.
The album Signals has this on it.
"Dedicated with thanks to the astronauts Young & Crippen and all the people of NASA for their inspiration and cooperation"
In a strange twist of fate, it was played as the wake-up song on Columbia's last successful mission STS-109 to work on the Hubble space telescope.
"Scorching blast of golden fire
As it slowly leaves the ground
Tears away with a mighty force
The air is shattered by the awesome sound
Like a pillar of cloud
The smoke lingers high in the air
With the eyes of the world
If there ever was a song for the final mission, this is it.
