18 Nov 10 CF-18 Crash In Cold Lake

Fri Nov 19, 2010 6:02 am

Since nothing was posted here, I'll post:

The link

A CF-18 belonging to the 409 TFS on final approach to Cold Lake went down around midnight on Wednesday, with the pilot ejecting. The pilot was found safe, a little cold (considering it was minus 13 Celsius that night), and in good condition by SAR, and is in hospital for observation. In all, not a good year for the CF-18 fleet with two birds going down in a space of four months.

It was snowing rather heavily and visibility was low during approach.

I can relate to that. Having landed myself in snow storms, though I wasn't flying an F/A-18 at the time.
