Wrist Watches For The US Air Force Pilots?

Tue Dec 21, 2010 5:37 am

Hi to all,

What type of wrist watches are usually issued to the aviation service men / woman in the US Air Force?
Do the US Air Force pilots have certified US military issued wrist watches? If so, what types are there?

Thx.

When I was flying the KC-135 (1970s through the 1990s) were were issued the same watch that was used as far back as WWII. It had a 12 hour and 24 hour face on it, was anolog, and you could stop the second hand when we got out "time hack". It had a black face and the hands and numbers were painted with glow in the dark paint, subdued case (not shiny), and a olive drab cloth wrist band.

I don't know if this watch is still in use today.

Nowadays its the Casio G-Shock. The ugly model that few pilots wear once they're done with pilot training.

That is it, except the watches we were issued did not have the date wheel in the 3:00 (1500) position.

Thanks, wardialer.
