Possible J-10 Sale To Serbia?

It would provide the best bang for the buck. Of course the issue of after sales support could be an issue, as well as Russia issuing an export license for the AL-31 engine. The smaller cheaper FC-1 could be the best option seeing how it uses the same engine as the mig-29.....

eh? that picture aint a J-10 that's a JF-17... and the video says visit - no mention of sale.

Such things are common - visiting dignitaries - especially defence ones are shown technology showcases such as the j-10

Serbia is a key Russian ally, so I don't see any issues in this respect.

Unless they want to sell aircraft to the Serbians themselves, of course...
Exceptions confirm the rule.

Russia has already stated that they will not grant any export licences for Chinese fighters to any country in which they are hoping to make a sale themselves..

Demonstration to delegations with at least recommending authority to their home governments always has (obvious or not) a purpose - be it technological cooperation, the prospect of a sale, and yes... shock and awe (either for political or commercial ends.)

There were reports that China already has alternate powerplants for both fighters. It is safe to assume they are also working on other systems which could preclude exporting the two to other countries. Now, whether those indigenous replacements deliver the goods is another matter.....and largely dependent on the buying party's appreciation that they're getting the bang they wanted for their buck. Did Russia have other contractual provisos or substantial input on the airframe that they could leverage?

So, create thread about J-10, post image of JF-17? That makes sense? Why not a pic of a tank or a city bus?

Based in images of the new J-20, they have a new engine that will fit jets with the AL-31, Im pretty sure the Chinese had this in mind developing the J-10.

Well the video shows J-10s displaying for the serbs while alberchico postulated that the FC-1 would be a better option, hence why he posted a picture of an FC-1.

Interesting to see what weapons the chinese export with an FC-1 order. Would the PL-12 be an option to nations like Serbia, Burma or Egypt potentially interested in the FC-1?

I'm familiar with the weapon. I'm interested in people's opinions on the possibility of China exporting it to someone other than Pakistan.

The SD-10 is already the export version so I assume it is has slightly downgraded performance. Not even Pakistan is allowed to have the most cutting edge stuff. Case in point is their new AWACS. It is an export version with inferior performance than the models that China uses. The PLAAF uses a different dish design.

I believe reading somewhere that China stated that the sd-10 will come standard with any jf-17 export order. Nobody would buy this plane unless it came with a BVR missile included.

All jokes aside I know after the war with NATO their (Serbs) commanders said that their biggest threat was from the US carriers at sea. I know at one times they mention purchasing the SU-34 with the range to try and counter that. Did that fall through or have they changed their thinking?

The K-8 has been their biggest export success story. Sort of a poor mans version of the Bae Hawk
