Downed Mirage In Afghanistan

Fri Jun 17, 2011 12:39 pm

Flightglobal has an interesting article on the salvage efforts along with pictures of a downed Mirage in Afghanistan. http://www.flightglobal.com/articles...-downed-mirage-in-afghanistan.html

Apparently the pilots ejected. What got my confused is the very good condition in which the aircraft is on the ground. This looks to be even better than a car crash.

Any opinion on why this is the case? It looks as if the Mirage had a parachute and it just landed on its belly.

Looks like it glided in or did a runway overrun, popped the drogue to slow it down.
