Nato Helicopter Shot Down In Afganistan

Sat Aug 06, 2011 12:20 pm

Sadly a NATO helicopter has been shot down in Afghanistan killing at least 31 U.S. special forces. I have not been able to find out what kind of helicopter this is yet, but it must have been a very large one.

More about this tragic news here: http://edition.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/as...helicopter.crash/index.html?hpt=T2

It was a Chinook.

Also 7 Afghan soldiers aboard.

this is being concurrently being discussed in the non-aviation forum: 31 US Special Forces Killed In Chinook Crash (by Giancavia Aug 6 2011 in Non Aviation)

I am so tired of my fellow Americans dying to help this worthless piece of crap country.

While I can sympathise, Americans were not the only ones to die in this sad incident. Seven Afghans who were working with the US troops also died.

My commiserations and condolences to the families of all who have suffered the loss of a loved one.
