Nasa Super Guppy...Still Flying?

Mon Dec 26, 2011 11:39 pm

A news article recently mentioned that the Nasa Shuttle Full Fuselage Trainer would be transported to Seattle in a Super Guppy sometime this coming spring. Is one still in active service? If so it will be an event worth watching.

What ever happened to the Airbus Guppies? I think that this last one is one of those.

The Airbus Guppies were retired.

There's one in Toulouse (due to go in the new museum when it's complete).
There's one in Hamburg (the apprentices restored it and repainted it for the family days last year)

Not sure what happened to the others...

The current NASA Guppy was the last one built for Airbus. EADS bartered it to NASA in part exchange for launch services to ISS.

Here is more info on the Guppys, Super Guppys, Mini Guppys, CL-44 Skymonsters, and Belugs, including the proposed but never built A-340 Super Buluga.
