Sun Jan 22, 2012 9:42 pm

Hi everyone,

I came across this video today and what a shame the end result was!

I'd say enjoy, but that's the wrong word to use.

Real lucky that they didn't get someone hurt badly in that mess.

The crane operator seemed pretty clueless from the start.

Duuuh... but poor plane.

This happened three years ago in my vicinity:

Picture 5 (of 7) is hilarious. Has to be a Liebherr LTM 1250 or 1350 crane.

Quoting tugger (Reply 5):

The link I posted?

It happened while building the new university children hospital in Basel, Switzerland.

Here's the exact place: http://maps.google.ch/maps?ll=47.563145,7.581441

To the left is the centre for pharmacology and molecular biology (Pharmazentrum/Biozentrum) of the University of Basel. I studied there in until June 2007.

Edit: The accident happened because the crane driver disenganged the overload C/B. At the current configuration, the crane could safely lift 12 tons, but the load was 14 tons.

Edit 2: The A-4 accident happened at the former NAS Alameda, according to http://www.ktvu.com/news/news/crane-...base-damages-refurbished-vi/nD7bW/
