Indoneisian Air Force Cargo Plane Crash

Thu Jun 21, 2012 1:18 pm

An Indonesian Air Force Fokker F-27 transport/cargo plane, with a crew of 7 aboard crashed today on approach to a Jakata Military Base and into an Air Force housing area. So, far, of the crew, at least 6 have died, with one still clinging to life. There were at least 3 people on the ground killed as it crashed into about 8 houses. It appears there were many injured people on the ground and all have been taken to an Air Force Hospital at the base.

I am praying for those injured and killed. May those killed RIP

The co-pilot died. So 7 onboard are killed. 3 on the ground is confirmed killed, and 4 more as of last night were still buried under the aircraft.

From http://bit.ly/Mceu8L

The airplane shortly before it crashed appeared to have entered a steep bank... and it crashed about 300m from a friend's house.

Halim Airbase commander is surely feeling underpaid at the moment.. 2 crashes in 2 months out of the airport.

The Air Force announced today that the findings from the report will not be made public.

I don't think that's the only or even the most important reason for an appalilng safety record...

So, is the count now 10 killed and count could go to at least 14?

Ain't his fault... and the "underpaid feeling" is just an expression I used for the media wanting to chase him for an interview

Count is 11 dead, with 9 survivors still in hospital, no news on the 4 underneath the aircraft as of yesterday.

There are not good odds of survival beneath a burning airplane that crashed on top of you or slid over you.

We could say that they are not lucky with their F-27 operations but please remember that they ordered 8 of these as far back as Spring 1975 and that I saw them built during 1977/1978 so on average they are now 35 years of age. We also know that their cardex system wasn't kept up-to-date from the very beginning and there is no reason to suppose that it has improved over the years.

Conclusion: nothing to wonder about what happened and this may continue as not that much improvement can be observed.
