Jordanian King A340-2/600

Sun Dec 02, 2012 3:07 pm

Does anyone know which plane is currently in use for the HK of Jordan? I know the king was using an A318 for some time, and I wanted to know if he's ever even used the A340-600. In the past he was using an A340-200.

If I remember correctly King Abdullah II sold the A340-600 during the Arab Spring. He clearly didn't want to be seen spending hundreds of millions of dollars on a new jet during a period of anti-monarchist and civil unrest in the region. A clever move in my opinion. Although it looks beautiful and would be great for spotting it is very excessive considering the Jordanian Government already have an A318CJ and A340-200!

If I'm not mistaken I believe King Abdullah also has the world's only private blackhawk helicopter which he flies himself.

The A340-200 was sold three years ago, so there's only the A318. I would not be surprised if they take the A340-600 anyway within a few years.

My mistake - still, an A318 should do the job. If they need more seats than that they could always charter an A340-200 or A330 from RJ.

King Abdullah II and the royal family very rare to use RJ fleet and normally charter by private jet from the gulf when extra capacity is need. Only the accompany of the royal court would take RJ flight.

Example is last visit for the prince to HKG was by QR excecutive jet.

Only made possible by the stupid move of buying it in the first place.

I hadn't heard about the Blackhawk, but I did see a photo of him riding his brand new Harley-Davidson a year or so ago.

The irony being that the Jordanian Royal Family's finances are significantly more separated from that of the state than most other mid-east states. The A340-600 is registered VP-CDD (used to be JY-ASX). I believe it is currently stored in Basel.

so there's only the A318.

The A318 is VQ-BDD
