Air Tattoo Fairford 2013, Anyone Going?

Sun Mar 24, 2013 7:00 pm

RIAT Air Tattoo Fairford 2013 is on the 20th July this year, is anyone going?
Does anyone know if there will be any special aircraft highlights there?

Thanks
Carl

Not the USAF, USN, or USMC. Oh, or the US Army either.

Unless something changes, im canceling my trip to Ohio this summer to hit the Dayton museum and Cleveland air show.

Carl,

I will be attending as a MACH3 FRIAT member for the full week - arrivals, practice, the show weekend and 'departure Monday'.

The RIAT site is updated every thursday.

While there are some interesting aircraft already confirmed, there is alot of 'ill feeling' towards whats already confirmed as not special enough. With all but the Red Arrows now confirmed for the UK Military, I would expect to see some nice aircraft added to the list over the coming months.

Star things for me so far is the Columbian KC-767 and Brazilian R-99.

As it stands at the moment, I'm, sure that I read the US are still to make a final decision on Paris Airshow and RIAT.

I was toying with the idea of going this year for the first time in many, many years. In the past the chaos of parking and getting out afterwards has put me off.

Looking through the list of aircraft attending this morning, I was amazed to see that there are no US aircraft on it, can anyone tell me why?

All US military airshows in the US are cancelled at least for this year due to cosy cutting. This also includes all display teams and fly overs at special events.

The Mig 35 is not going to be there?

I saw her flying on the Tuesday. Best-est flying display at the Paris Air Show..

Such an incredible display! She was definitely the Star at the air show.

These Russian test pilots are always going haywire while keeping perfect control of their fabulous machine at all tiemes.

Pure genius.

There was a better way to fly it was called Concorde

To answer the question Yes. I have just received the tickets for the Pimms Enclosure. My Boss, his partner and I will be going on the Saturday 20th (planning to hit the road at oh dark early to get there for doors opening).

Even though the US will not be there I still feel there will be enough to keep people happy. I must say I am looking forward to seeing the RAF Tristar flying. I am lucky enough that I see the Tristars / C-17s (and in the past VC-10s) on a fairly regular basis. The drawback is that they are all flying into BHX with wounded on board for transfer to Hospital here in Birmingham. I must also admit that I cannot wait to see the Voyager (A330).
I'm lucky my job is my hobby
