Pease 1st ANG Base To Get KC-46A Tanker

Wed May 22, 2013 2:46 pm

The local pols are crowing.

Quote:
The criteria cited in today’s Air Force announcement closely reflect the advantages that both Senators have reiterated to Pentagon officials for over a year and a half – including Pease’s successful existing active-duty association, low active duty manpower requirements, and strategic location in a region of high air refueling receiver demand. Pease successfully competed for the new tanker against 82 other installations and four other finalists.

Welcome to New Hampsha, KC-46A!

Note there is an environmental impact study to pass too, but chances are good that the skids are greased on that one.

Inspiration, move me brightly! Light the song with sense and color.
Hold away despair, more than this I will not ask.
Faced with mysteries dark and vast, statements just seem vain at last.
Some rise, some fall, some climb, to get to Terrapin!

I can't imagine that a quieter plane (versus the KC-135R) is going to have any problem with an 'impact study.' Two engines v. four. The 'impact' does, however, come from 12 planes versus 7 now. Pease is halfway between my home in southern NH and my Dad's home in Kennebunkport, so these will be good to see once they start rolling in.

Now we just have to get the F-35s in Burlington, VT.

Can you use grease on the skids of the EIS?

the active duty prize goes to McConnell

Yes, the 22nd Air Refueling Wing at IAB is the first unit to get the KC-46, currently scheduled to begin in 2016, the 64th Air Refueling Squadron, a 22 ARW GSU is an active duty associate unit with the 157th Air Refueling Wing, NHANG at PSM. The 64th and 157th should begin getting their aircraft 2017 and 2018.
