Arrivals At BFS International For G8 Summit?

Sun Jun 16, 2013 8:35 am

Hi

As the summit is being held in Northern Ireland this year, and so lots of big rare planes are coming into BFS and a few other airfields, what times are the planes coming in at as I hope to spot them  ))) i know AF1 is an earlier one...

Any help on rough times will be great! And who all are going into Aldergrove...

All the best

Arrivals At BFS International For G8 Summit?

Its a pity no-one has responded with some into. I live in Northern Ireland but have been working all day and only seen your post just now. Maybe those in the know are worried about posting info about G8.

I am not an expert on these movements but I will post what little I know for you.

Information is sketchy with nothing very concrete being released. I am mainly interested in the Japanese Air Force 747. It went over Carrickfergus at around 21:20 local on its way into BFS and remains on the ground there now. The aircraft was 20-1102 and showed up on the internet radar sites as JF001, making a stop at Warsaw on the way from Japan.

Not sure about President O'Bama. Marine 1 + 2 have been here for a few days and were seen flying over Belfast on Friday morning in formation with other helicopters, Blackhawks or whatever they were, I'm not an expert on helicopters. I just recognized Marine 1 + 2 with their green and white scheme.

I have heard conflicting info about when US Air Force One (+ Two) arrive, one that they are already here, another that they arrive at 07:00 Monday morning. I think the Monday morning one is the most likely as roads are closed for him to drive into Belfast for a visit from 08:00 until 10:30.

As I type I have just run outside at the sound of an unusual aircraft, just seen TU-214 RA-64521 call-sign RSD031 Russia State Transport Company, possibly with Mr. Putin on board! Would have landed on runway 25 BFS at around midnight.

The Mexican President is attending, I don´t know why, but he is. Maybe some on the side meetings. So look for the Mexican Air Force TP-01 a lovely 757-225 with winglets.

Security is very tight but I hope some images prevail.
Would be great to see a photogragh of the rare visitors, curious to know where they would have parked.
Perhaps after the event people will be happy to discuss their observations.

Edit: BFS has posted youtube video of the arrival of the british and Japanese Prime Minister. Noticed from their facebook page.

Not sure about President O'Bama.

Didn't know that Obama is a good Irish name

Wonder what our Chancellor will fly in with. Depending on the size of the delegation it might be the 343.

Indeed some reported issues with mobile phones this morning. It was suggested they cut the networks for a time.

I would say any spotting around BFS is very hard or being very closely monitored. Its bad enough in normal times!

BFS must have found permission to video arriving aircraft, as they posted Air Force One landing this morning. Shame Mr Putin s Tupolev touched down in darkness, hopfully he will have a daytime departure.

Is it the first time since Balkans Tu 154 charters that a Tupolev has touched down in BFS?

I have not seen a TU154 at BFS for many years now. Must be very rare.

What aircraft?

I thought they flew AF1 a little faster than the airliners.
