Cruise Trip

Sun May 14, 2000 12:41 am

Heya...my first non aviation post.

Just came back on a 2 nite cruise trip with my friends.

Ship: Superstar Virgo (based in Singapore).
This ship is HUGE   . It has 13 decks, although the first three is not for access by passengers. This ship is 76,800 tonnes and can carry 2500 paxs and 900 crew.

The best thing is having friends to go. We had fun singing in the Pub, played a few Bingo Games..(my friend won a 7 Days cruise trip top prize)   . We also had fun in the Casino, relax at the Spa / Sauna / Jacuzzzi.
The food onboard is not that great tasting thou' , but to cater for those ever hungry passengers...can't be helped...

And we stopped at Kuantan Port...not a very exciting destination...but nonetheless..."exotic".

Not the kind of report U would expect....but then, I wasn't seated in an airplane waiting to be served!!! Once onboard the ship....you go kinda "wild"..

Yo! I LOVE cruises. I collect cruise brochures, and definitely have the Star Cruises brochures! Are you sure it was Virgo? According to my brochures the 13-decker 76,800 tonner is Leo - they just got it. Well, whatever it's name, it's one HECK of a ship.

Here's the info on this brand new beauty:
Length: 268m
Breadth: 32.2m
Speed: 25 knots
Cost: $350,000,000
Cabins: 1,000
Year: '98
Tonnage: 76,800

You think that's big? Well - it's about 30,000 tons larger than the Titanic and a shot wider. But try this:

Voyager of the Seas
belongs to Royal Carribean International
143,000 tons (About twice the size of your ship)
Cost: $476,000,000
Year: '99

It's actually a relatively ugly ship.

Y'wanna' know what ship is both big and beautiful?
GRAND PRINCESS of Princess Cruise Lines.

HI 747-600X,

I have been onboard Leo too...but with my parents.

Virgo and Leo are of the exact same size, but Virgo cost Sing$35million more in furnishing costs....so it definately looks more grand. It arrived in August 1999, one year later than Leo, so the brochures you are holding is rather outdated.

Go to the weblink above and under "fleet"..look for Superstar Virgo

Everything on the ship's layout is the same...except slight changes in Deck 7 plans. The food however is better on Leo.

Leo has now been moved to Hong Kong with the arrival of Virgo in Singapore. More ships are on the cards for Star Cruises. Next Year, Superstar Libra will come out...91,000 tonnes.

I would love to go on other cruises too ...but the only Royal Carribrean ship here is the Crystal Symphony.

If you want the new cruise brochures, leave you snail mail address in my e-mail...so i will try to send to you

Thanks! I haven't gotten anything from the foreign lines in a while, but I have the number so I'll call them myself and order stuff. I do, however, always have two or three copies of the most recent American brochures. (Carnival, Princess, RCCI, Silversea, etc. etc.)
