Everybody will have to wear glasses. How long time is left until you turn 40 or 45?
Don't think about laser sugery unless you are extremely near sighted. Laser surgery is sometimes considered a substitute for glasses. That's only partly correct. First you have to be very lucky with the operation not to need correction at all to have a perfect eyesight after the operation.
But in any case, long time before you are fifty - and everybody becomes fifty one day if they live long enough - then you will need reading glasses, computer glasses, car driving glasses, and bi- or multi-focals for utility use. That's how it is. And at that time you can also just forget about contact lenses because you can't change them fast enough as needed.
To those of you who hate glasses: Get rid of that syndrome before forty, or you will suffer. You will get headache in front of your computer screen. You will become an unsafe driver. Your arms will grow as long as rattle snakes when reading a newspaper. Depending on the conditions of your eyes at least one or two of these things will happen to you if you don't accept to wear glasses.
I always had a perfect eyesight without any correction. I got my first glasses at 48, that was a few years too late.
It isn't my fault. God created man with eyes with an automatic focusing mechanism which wear out after 40-45 years of use and cannot be replaced with original spare parts. Don't argue with God about that. There is no other way but adapting to the situation and buy your own auxiliary focusing tools, glasses to fit your needs.
At the first test flight of the NASA Space Shuttle TV pictures were sent back from the flight deck. Some young journalists were shocked and asked NASA how they could trust this expensive ship to a man with bad eyes? NASA answered that commander John Young had perfect eyesight, but since he wasn't a youngster any more - in fact he was fifty - then of course he used his reading glasses when going through the checklists.
It's cool to wear glasses because they can adapt your eyesight to all circumstances as if you were 18 years old.
