How Come More People Use This Board Than Others?

Sat Oct 14, 2000 5:51 am

I've noticed while I've been on the Civil Aviation board as well as this that there are alot of people on the Non-Aviation board that I've never seen on the Civil Aviation one. Why would you waste your time to sugn up for an aviation website and in the end only go to the Non-Aviation board? What a waste of time, if you actually want to sign up for a board where you can talk about random things, then why not sign up for a website that specializes in that?

Well... most of us kinda do both. I don't use the general aviation forum as much as I used to. I think that will change soon though. I am tired of my religion being put down, I am tired of all the argueing, and I'm tired of all the gay posts. I think that everyone is entitled to there own opinion though, so... What does one do? Simple... leave.

ANYWAYS... Most of the forums are pretty cool.

I tend to post here more than the civil board but I do make the odd post there. That's just because I read a lot on the civil board but I'm not too knowledgable when it comes to answering people's questions. I quite like the community we have going on the non-av board, it just feels better than some lame-ass Yahoo board or something. I also don't spend all my time thinking about airliners(there ARE other things in life; and lots of 'em!) although planes are still one of my main hobbies.

I use both boards equally and extensively. I think that this board is frequented by a lot of who don't necessarily have the time in their lives to discuss aviation and just chat regularly. Here they can get the closest to the best of both worlds by talking to people with common interests.

I am very strapped for time as well with High School (I just took up my entire Thursday evening reading 100 textbook pages last night to study for an AP Euro exam), and once I learn to drive, I fear time spent on these forums will decrease even further.

I read frequently on the Civil Av board but sometimes, there are no questions that I can answer so I just post replies where I can and most of the time its here.

Hey I took AP Euro History last year!!! That was my only 5 in h.s. What a boring class. I remember my teacher Dr. Huebsch standing day after day in front of the class lectuing endlessly. We used the worst book, I hope you don't have it, History of the Civilzed World (or something like that) a big thick dark blue book. No color, sucked.

I post more here, because I realise that being an aviation fan doesn't automatically mean that I know enough to post reams of airline purchasing strategies, or detailed technical information. I tend to leave that to those who are more qualified to inform. Generally, the best I can do is a "Ohh, yes that's true", or "Really...that's nice"-type post. Bit sad really

Here, I can at least talk about beer.

I think I post on the general aviation more than here just because there are more newer posts and this gets boring sometimes, i like this forum though. the only forums I use(dunno why) are the trip reports,non-av, and general-av. Plus School takes up all my time with studying and homework etc.

This board is more colourful!
You can still discuss the same things more or less, but you don't have to walk on eggshells worrying that you might say something off subject for that forum.

Well most people have a life and interests other than aviation.

And I don't think Johan was stupid to have made the non-aviation forum. The longer we stay on the site, the better it is for him in terms of revenue.

And add to the fact, that I get most of my interest in Russian aviation from other sources, and I really don't care much for Boeing/Airbus wars, and the like.
