Face It: We're Doomed

Tue Nov 14, 2000 1:09 pm

If ego was flatulence, one frozen burrito and one lit match would be enough for both Bush and Gore to supply our natural gas energy needs at least through the year 2016. The amount of arrogance and obstinance displayed by both of the candidates and the voters alike is enough for me to want one of them to reach out and throw the other off a cliff just to bring this national abomination to a close. Only here in America can we figure out a way to bungle our very own system, and then bicker about it, which is like dipping your hand in a vat of sulphuric acid and then complaining that your hand hurts. I can imagine every other country on this tiny little planet looking at us and laughing until their diaphragms fail. If this matter wasn't so serious, I'd be laughing too. How is it that a group of antique voters in Florida not only A) manage to not follow directions on what has to be the worlds most easiest set of directions, and B) get sympathy for expressing that level of stupidity, and C) may actually get the chance to re-vote, and D) this entire race is hinged on the vote of a group of people-half of which will most likely not even be alive when the next election rolls around-which will be about when this one is finally settled. I would rather be sodomized by a group of Pelican Bay inmates than have to endure all of this finger pointing for one more second. Unless we declare civil war and the Liberals and Conservatives are allowed to engage each other in duels to the death, there is nothing, and I do mean futility in the truest sense of the word that will make the 'other' half of the country accept you-much less like you.
So what does this mean for us? Well, seeing that this topic has been beaten more than a Cinco de Mayo pinata, there really isn't much more to say other than the next president is going to have a very long and rough 4 years punctuated by a rival party just itching to throw him out at the first available opportunity.
One of you please concede defeat just for the sake of the county both of you are swinging so fiercely and blindly to "serve".
Wait the 4 years and run again. If you do, you will almost be guaranteed a two term presidency running from '05-'13!!!! Remember, almost both sides in this forum agree that regardless of who wins, he will be a one term only president.
Then we'll see who really has character.
Until then, it's going to be a long, difficult road, and you're going to be sorry you fought so hard for that seat in the Oval Office.
Which is better? Winning 4 years now because of a technicality? Or waiting 4 years, then be given 8 (yes double the years) by a landslide???????
Don't spend a dollar to save a dime!!!!!!!!!

Matt, I disagree somewhat with your statement. I certainly agree that the US is a joke right now under the current situation, but as I have stated before, the public has a short term memory. In fact, I think that the first 6 months will be the toughest to overcome, but once in office, the victor will prove they are an effective leader (even Gore). That being said, I think Bush would have an easier transition than Gore due to the fact that the GOP will control Congress and will more than likely work with Bush on issues and policy. If Gore becomes President, they can almost put up a knee-jerk reaction to everything he proposes because of the current mess.

Remember, Four years is still a long way down the road and ALOT can happen, good or bad.

There is a lot of truth in that statement.

Personally I would rather wait for the Bush team to win than to be rushed into a Gore win. Therefore I suspect the other side's aspirations are similar with other names.

Waiting two weeks is not as bad as waiting another four years.

Very true...I'm sure the rest of the world is having a good yuk that the *supreme power of the western world* can't even decide who its leader is.

It is funny how those in other countries make fun of the USA. People without power and beauty and influence lash out at those with those things.

Well, I am glad to be inside these hallowed borders. We don't have a wall up to keep people in. We have a fence up to keep people out.

Ps-practically everyone in the world (a little exaggeration) wants in here. They wait for years to get to come in. But the jealous citizens of other than the USA find it hard to be kind and generous. You who complain about the USA ought to be ashamed.

You are exactly right, Greeneyes.
This election process (for the most part) has been a great example of the process of this Constitutional Republic called the United States of America.
