My Own Spanish Rock Band.

Wed Feb 14, 2001 4:25 am

Hey guys. How is everyone? Hope you are all o.k.

I just wanted to share that this past weekend I went out and purchased all the equipment for my own Spanish Rock Band. I gathered up all the musicians and had been planning this for about two months now. I spent close to $15,000.00

I bought the best of the best. We will start rehearsing this upcoming weekend. I have written about 5 songs so far. We will be doing some Lenny Kravitz covers and some Stone Temple Pilots. We are going to rock. All the musicians have over 20 years of experience behind them. This is so cool. A long time dream come true for me.

I don't have a clue yet. I'm thinking of something like Sonido Bestial - Bestial Sound for the english speaking crowd.

What do u think of that name?

That sounds great, mate. What other band's songs will you be doing? Anything by Nirvana?
GKirk, wishing AA767-300ER Good luck with the band.
When you hear the noise of the Tartan Army Boys, we'll be coming down the road!

AA767-300ER:

That's really cool! What are your favorite Spanish Rock groups? My faves are:

Mana
Cafe Tacuba
Fabulosos Cadillacs
Fiel a la Vega
Ozomatli (Not really "rock" but they are cool)

Enanitos Verdes
Mecano
Motonov
Mana and El Moco del Elefante. The last one I mentioned is not really that famous they are mor like a local band here in NY.

Spanish wise... I like Zurdok and Julieta Venegas, I especially like her cause she's from Tijuana  Smile

AA767-300ER: I hope to hear you someday on 98.8FM More FM Tijuana--"Mas Rock en Español"  Smile.

Good Luck!

Sr117: I think Julieta Venegas is great too. "Seria Feliz" is a good single.

interesting, I didn't really think people listened to 98.9 north of the border !!

yup, I agree, "Seria Feliz" is a nice single, has a nice sound to it !! seems that she dumped her accordion though, I think it's for the best  Smile
She did a concert here a few weeks ago, but it was kinda pricey, I'm a cheap charlie so 15$ is too much for me  Big grin, (I rather spend it on some hasegawa plastic and some decals) what ever happened to cheapo concerts? like the cardigans... last time they were in San Diego at the Soma, it was about 5 bucks, too bad I found out too late !!

BTW, AA767, best of luck to your band !!

98.9 actually has a very strong signal in SD proper...I listen to it when I am tired of the crap that the english stations play. It really sucks though when I hear a song I like and can't understand the DJ if they say the name of the song afterwards. After I finish French in HS I am taking some classes in Spanish.  Smile
