School Related Poll

Wed Feb 21, 2001 5:45 am

Which would you rather have-

1. Eating lunch in the gym
2. Having class in a trailer

Which one would you rather have if you could only pick one and had to choose??

Thanks,
Greg

Neither, but I guess I have to choose.... hmmm... I guess eating in the gym (assuming they have tables set up). I don't like trailers at all...

Ummm... the 1st one. That's how my school was setup... The Elementary Gym was the lunchroom for K-12.

I'd rather have class in a trailer!

The gym smells and spoils my appetitte

Plus the trailers you can rock back-in-fouth and scare everyone in there thinking that it's an earthquake! Big grin

Well I would not prefer either because back in Vacaville CA we had both trailer classrooms and Gym cafiterias. Trailers arent good because when the AC breaks in the summer (year round school) you are in for it! Now In Indy we have a cafeteria and inside classrooms.

I was attending Cal. State University Northridge during the Northridge Earthquake in 1994. The campus was destroyed an most classes were held in trailers. Some met outside under trees and I thought that was rather cool.  Big thumbs up
That lasted for about a month before the rain came.

I think the probability of an earthquake in Philadelphia is nil

Well, surprisingly I'd pick #2 because that's what I did for my entire middle school career (7th & 8th grades). Since I do independent study we had our little workshops and everything in this portable trailer (thin and long) but for larger events we'd rent out a room at the community center.

Currently they're in the process of building permanent buildings where the trailer once stood, it should be ready for the Fall 2001 semester, the first semester our of high school for me... *waxes nostalgic*

The reason I asked this poll is because my school currently faces both problems and the school board decided to rectify one by building a new really big university style cafeteria-Our school doesnt have a lot of freespace to expand (the school was designed poorly in the first place) and to do this they are eliminating a lot of parking spaces...

Just wanted to see what you all thought...

At my school, we can eat lunch in the cafeteria, or the outside area around it.

At my school, its an open campus so we can eat wherever we want, even inside the school hallways. Anywhere except for classrooms, unless the teacher says so. I would pick 2 because there is nothing bad about trailers as classrooms.

Don't have any preference, considering I go to a rich as hell private school whose endowment is $85 million+. If we run out of room, we just buy out the land surrounding us. At least that is what my school did for its latest construction project. Anybody's curious, go to http://www.smtexas.org for more details. That is my schools official website. A pic of Blink182 might be on there as well, not sure though.

Well, I've had class in a trailer and it was hot as hell, so I'd say eating in a gym.

The correct term is "portable classroom" and ive been there, done that (they've got air conditioning, and they're double-wides!).

Ive also eaten in the gym, been there, done that.

I'll bet that most of you people that have portable classrooms dont have to trudge outside DURING THE WINTER with the SNOW and ICE and the BONE-CHILLING WIND, WITHOUT A COAT.

I prefer NEITHER choice.

Us330- lol, you are right! Our school is loaded with cash! We pay people 1 million to move out and let us take their land! I will admit that US330 and I's education is way on the luxury side!

probably lunch in the gym.

Anyway just like Us330 and others my school is also pretty rich. Right now we are in a large constuction phase. They are spending something like 2million+ to add new buildings and renavate the current building. It will be really nice when its finished. Plus a graduate donated 1mil to build a new studebt center.
btw-Us330 I did look at your schools website. It looks kinda like my schools site. My school site is sehs.net.

Portable Classrooms...

Thu Feb 22, 2001 12:31 pm

When I was in highschool we did not have air conditioning in the "portable classroom." And I live in a VERY hot city too!

Lunch in the gym.
Mold spores develop in the ventilation system and have made some young students rather sick.
