Has Anyone Ouside Of The UK Been To Scotland?

Mon Feb 26, 2001 9:15 pm

Where abouts did you go? Did you enjoy it? What did you do? Would you come back again?
If anyone is planning on coming to Scotland I suggest you visit Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Highlands especially.

I'm from Russia now in Scotland. I think it's a great country. Both EDI and GLA have their beautiful sides (not just the airports).

One of my uncles picked up a woman from Scotland a year or two back, and I think there are wedding bells in sight. Traditionally the wedding takes place at where the bride comes from so...hopefully I've been to Scotland within 1-2-3 years.  Smile

They say Scotland looks alot like Norway. hmmm.

I went there last year. I spent some time in Glasgow and Edinburgh and went on a weekend camping trip up to the highlands past Fort William, Ben Nevis, and out to the coast at Arisaig. I also saw some more of the coast on a coach ride from Glasgow to Stranraer. I also visited England and Dublin but Scotland was definately the highlight. I would love to go back again.

Cheers,
Felix

My family was thinking about going there for summer vacation, but airfare was close to 1,000 dollars a person, and my family really can't afford that with my little brother's bar mitzvah coming up in September.

I'm from South Africa and when I visited the UK last year we hired a car and drove up to Scotland.

We were basically told that Glasgow is an industrial hole so we bypassed that and spent our time in and around Edinburgh...unfortunately we had very little time there, but it is without a doubt a beautiful area. Almost as beautiful as my home town Cape Town...almost!  Wink/being sarcastic

"Industrial hole" Glasgow is Scotland's biggest city. It's quite cool for shopping, clubbing, architecture, etc.

I traveled to Scotland for about tow days on a trip to the United Kingdom in the summer of '99. I stayed in Edinburgh, and I really enjoyed the Royal Mile and the castle. I remember meeting a nice lady who came all the way from Houston while Iwas shopping down the Roal Mile.

I love Scotland! I was there in 1999, and I had a blast. The people are the friendliest I've ever met...anywhere. I stayed in Edinburgh, which is one of the prettiest, most dramatic cities, with the castle perched over the city centre. Excellent bus system made getting from the house in Murrayfield to city centre Edinburgh a snap. I would jump at the chance to go back to Scotland.

I went Edinburgh, Inverness, Loch Ness, and back countries. It was very different from London. And People are really friendly. A man I met at a pub, bought me a drink because I like airplanes!

It was great place. Like to visit more when I get chance.

I lived un the UK from 1992-1995 and went to Scotland on one of these years. The scenery in the Grampians were the best I've seen in my life. The grass was purple!
We didn't stay long in Edinburgh but I saw the castle on top of the lump of volcanic rock. We bypassed Glasgow. Went to Loch Ness, Oban (saw the brewery and listened to bagpipes), Isle of Skye on the car ferry, John O Groats. The most beautiful place was the Hamlet of Anne-Marie(?) in the Grampians where there was a small hotel.

I'd go back any day if I have the chance.

I have been to Scotland twice, GKirk and love it. I stayed in Aberdeen with my sister in the nurses quarters at the hospital she was working at. We drove thru the highlands for a couple of days and had a great time. Also have been to Edinburgh. I own a Westhighland White Terrrier!

I'm from New York City. I've been to Lockerbie to pay my respect to my best friend and his family who were murdered aboard PA 103. The are is quite beatiful but not much to do except for talking to the locals, enjoy the scenary and eat in Lockerbie's many great resteraunts. Glasgow and Dumfries are a bit better in things to do and shopping.

I went to Scotland with a student tour group this past summer. We went to Edinburgh, Glasgow, New Lanark, an area near Prestwick, and Gretna Green. I liked Edinburgh the best, but I thought Gretna Green was kind of a tourist trap (!). Luckily it was sunny though most of the time and there were great views of the mountains from there. I liked Scotland a lot.

My family and I were in Edinburgh for a few days back in the summer of 1991, and it was great! We drove up there from northern England. We had a chance to go up Arthur's Seat and the castle on top of it. There was a music festival there at the time and that was cool! You should've seen the combo of a rock and pipe band! Big grin
